Backbreaker Out Next Week!

It snuck  up on me but you should be able to get a copy of the very new Gridiron game Backbreaker created by NaturalMotion in most game stores this Thursday next Thursday. Yay!

If you are sick of Madden then check it out. It does away with the traditional top down view found in the modern American Football game and puts the camera right behind the player. This seems to give it a much more intense experience as you really only get to see little more than the athlete does. This means the QB actually has a blindside and RBs will have trouble seeing over defencive lines. Cool.  The game boasts the fancy Euphoria technology (also found in GTA4 and recently in Red Dead Redemption) making every tackle simulated in real time,  this insures that every hit will be different and dynamic. It’s pretty exciting stuff. 505 Games (publishers) have done a good job releasing the game in May well before Football and Madden 11 just in time to wet my appetite for the preseason. Sadly it does not have the NFL licence (boo EA Sports) but you can fully customise your team and players so if you are incredibly hardcore you could go and rename everyone.

Here’s a nice little gameplay video: Backbreaker Gameplay on YouTube

And here’s the trailer, check out the hit 57 seconds in: Backbreaker Trailer on You Tube

I’ll be picking up a copy for my PS3, if you have a PS3 or Xbox360 and are aching for a new American Football game grab it and have a game with us.

Ninja Edit: For those of you paying attention it seems the game was delayed a week! Or I just got the date wrong. Either way it’s being released on the 3rd of June. That’s next Thursday. Right in the middle of my exams. Perfect.

“just in time to wet my appetite” – dude, it’s to ‘whet’ one’s appetite, not ‘wet’ it. You know, whet as in sharpen? I feel embarrassed to have to point this out to a classical scholar.

You’re right. It’s the little things that always slip through the 3 min editing process. Although I am a little surprised you considered it something worth commenting about.
