We have had a couple of people ask for our season thoughts & predictions on both Twitter and Facebook recently, and after enjoying our 2010 Playoffs Predictions Bonanza last year we have decided to start a regular season predictions article which we will publish at the start of every NFL season from here on in.
With that in mind, our six main writers and myself have set out to predict the impossible…a lockout-influenced, unpredictable 2011 NFL season.
It’s no secret that at least one NFL team usually rises out of obscurity and another falls to the depths of the unknown every season. This is why I love the NFL – every season is totally different and it’s hard for one team to totally dominate unlike so many other sports.
There are surprises, there are sarcastic picks, and there are obvious picks, but either way it was a heap of fun and we all look forward to seeing your predictions in the comments below.
Which Team Will have the Most Regular Season Wins?

Can the pack follow up from last season?
- Andy: San Diego Chargers – I think they are loaded on both sides of the ball and their special teams (which cost them a few games last season) surely can’t be any worse.
- Brodie: Green Bay Packers – People think the Eagles are the “Dream team”. Anyone looked at the Packers roster recently?
- Dom: New England Patriots - Still looking great.
- James H-S: New England Patriots – They’re better than the Jets, have both Miami and Buffalo in their division and play the Raiders, Redskins and Broncos in 2011. Oh, and Tom Brady is still just that good.
- James S: Green Bay Packers – Barring a Super Bowl slump, the Packers will only get better this season–13 wins.
- Jared: Atlanta Falcons – But I think they will lose the opener to the Bears. I give them 12 wins.
- Olly: Atlanta Falcons – That offense is scary, and the D should be better after keeping most of their important players.
Current SportingBet Favourite: New England at 3.75 ![]()
2011/ 12 NFC Championship Winner

Lots of Falcons believers this season
- Andy: Atlanta Falcons – Just changed this pick from Green Bay as I feel it’s Atlanta’s turn at the helm.
- Brodie: Green Bay Packers – When scouring over other competitors no one comes close. Perhaps the Eagles on their day.
- Dom: Atlanta Falcons – Going to stick by my earlier prediction but look out for New Orleans and Green Bay.
- James H-S: New Orleans Saints – They shouldn’t have bowed out so early last season and look primed for more success this year. Oh, and to Drew Brees: Just stay out of Seattle if you know what’s good for you.
- James S: Philadelphia Eagles – The Packers are the safe choice, but the Eagles have the X-Factor that will be unbeatable if it all goes right on the day.
- Jared: Atlanta Falcons - I’m going to say Atlanta here again, they were a great team last year and look they are going to be scary through the air.
- Olly: Atlanta Falcons – I think this is the year Ryan not only wins his first playoff game, but takes them to the big dance.
Current SportingBet Favourite: Green Bay at 4.50 ![]()
2011/ 12 AFC Championship Winner

Have Bill & Tom got what it takes to take their team back to the promised land?
- Andy: New England Patriots – Really like San Diego but they have so little playoff experience that I had to go with the Belichick/Brady combo who are out for revenge after last seasons early playoff exit
- Brodie: Indianapolis Colts – The big question is on Peyton Manning, if he comes back ready to go this team can be a post season force. After a lackluster year with some injuries I think “The General” can get it done.
- Dom: New England Patriots – Nobody puts Beli in a corner! Especially not Rex Ryan.
- James H-S: San Diego Chargers – It’s their year. I hope they beat the Jets in the AFC Championship game, too. Wouldn’t that just be a great laugh?
- James S: New England Patriots – It’s going to be hard to pick the Patriots to win the Super Bowl if they don’t win this game.
- Jared: Baltimore Ravens - I’m going to go a little different and go with the Ravens. I think the Steelers will not be as strong this year and the Ravens will knock over the Patriots or Jets in the AFC Championship game.
- Olly: San Diego Chargers – They have got to get it together one year right? With a new special teams coach, hopefully having the best offense and defense can take them to the big show.

Super Bowl XLVI Winner
- Andy: New England Patriots – The young Patriots D builds on their momentum from last season and the Belichick/Brady legacy continues over an overwhelmed Atlanta team.

The big question is whether Peyton overcome his neck problems or not before its too late
- Brodie: Indianapolis Colts – Peyton strikes back. The way I see things it’s not about the first half of the season it is about the last.
- Dom: Atlanta Falcons – I’m going to continue to stick by my earlier calls.
- James H-S: San Diego Chargers – Strong, intimidating, and have all the weapons you need for a successful team. My only concern if they do win is that Philip Rivers’ head would become that big it’ll be just ridiculous.
- James S: New England Patriots – Whilst Matty Ice has one of the coolest nicknames in the NFL, Tom Terrific will finally get back on to the winner’s stand behind a precise offense, aggressive, young defense and Bill Belichick.
- Jared: Atlanta Falcons – I think Matty Ice is going to be let loose and their offence will be wild.
- Olly: San Diego Chargers – I think Phil and Co. will win a shootout.
Current SportingBet Favourite: Green Bay Packers at 6.50 ![]()
2011-12 NFL MVP Winner

With half of our votes...Rivers looks set for an even bigger year
- Andy: Philip Rivers (San Diego Chargers) – Pretty sure this guy is some sort of robot
- Brodie: Philip Rivers (San Diego Chargers) – I’m with Andy this guy is a production machine or something
- Dom: Matthew Stafford (Detroit Lions) – Thought I would throw in a nice outside shot here.
- James H-S: Charlie Whitehurst. Drew Brees (New Orleans), because Michael Vick is likely to get injured at some stage this season.
- James S: Peyton Manning (Indianapolis Colts) – Once everyone sees how bad the Colts are without him, he will be a lock for the award. His chances of winning increase the fewer games he plays.
- Jared: Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings) – With the Mcnabb at Quarterback and Christian Ponder waiting in the shadows I think the Vikings will run a lot which only means great things for “All Day” Peterson.
- Olly: Philip Rivers ( San Diego Chargers) – Rivers is primed for a hell of a season.
Current SportingBet Favourite: Aaron Rodgers at 5.50 ![]()
2011/12 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year

Lots of high expectations for Julio
- Andy: Daniel Thomas (Miami Dolphins) – Not confident about this after his average pre-season but I didn’t want to go the Julio route and Thomas has a great last name . In my eyes he is one of the only rookies with a chance at a legit starting job (and no Reggie Bush is not a legit full time running back).
- Brodie: Lance Kendricks (St Louis Rams) – Kendricks is already Sam Bradford’s favorite target. For me this is a no brainier.
- Dom: Julio Jones (Atlanta Falcons) – Can’t shake that Atlanta theme. Watch him be used like Percy Harvin was in his rookie season.
- James H-S: Mark Ingram (New Orleans Saints). You don’t win a Heisman Trophy for nothing, and with Reggie Bush playing in the slightly gross orange and green uniforms these days, I think Ingram is set to shine.
- James S: Randall Cobb (Green Bay Packers) – If the Packers do win 13 games, I think it will be in large part due to an explosive offense and Cobb has a big chance to contribute and be rewarded in such an offense.
- Jared: A.J. Green (Cincinnati Bengals) – With no other Wide Receiver options in Cincinnati, Green is my man, lets just hope they can get him the ball.
- Olly: Julio Jones (Atlanta Falcons) – Will see a lot of single coverage this year and Ryan will exploit that.
Current SportingBet Favourite: Julio Jones at 4.75 ![]()
2011/12 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year

Von Miller wins the majority vote for Defensive Rookie of the Year
- Andy: Patrick Peterson (Arizona Cardinals) – One of the most NFL ready rookie proves trading DRC was no big deal
- Brodie: Brooks Reed (Houston Texans) – Drafted at number 42, Reed is Another beastly linebacker with Clay Matthews like hair. From what i have seen in the pre season this guy will be a superstar.
- Dom: Von Miller (Denver Broncos) – Really showed up in the preseason, also Denver’s offense is going to be awful this year so he will have lots of chances on the field.
- James H-S: Patrick Peterson (Arizona Cardinals). He possesses absurd shutdown speed, athleticism and should settle into the NFL with ease. Expect him to be Alex Smith’s no. 1 target this season.
- James S: Von Miller (Denver Broncos) – One bright spot for what I expect to be a disappointing Broncos outfit.
- Jared: Von Miller (Denver Broncos) – He will be a pass rush machine and should accumulate a healthy number of sacks throughout the season.
- Olly: Adrian Clayborn (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) – With McCoy swallowing up double teams beside him, Clayborn can use his vast array of moves to post double digit sacks.
Current SportingBet Favourite: Von Miller at 5.50 ![]()
2011/12 Highest Fantasy Scorer

Can Jamaal take it to the next level this season?
- Andy: LeSean McCoy (Philadelphia Eagles) – Part WR/Part RB who should gets lots of Vick dump-offs and screens underneath. Should be getting a lot of touches and should be on the field a lot if he can stay healthy.
- Brodie: Arian Foster (Houston Texans) – The Texans game plan helps Foster bucket-loads. He is in a weak division and should thrive again, barring any more injury setbacks.
- Dom: Jamaal Charles (Kansas City Chiefs) – Because Mart Cassel is looking awful and Charles is all they have.
- James H-S: Tarvaris Jackson. Jamaal Charles (Kansas City Chiefs). For one reason, really. He’s the only decent player on my awful fantasy team and so I need him to perform if I am to maintain any form of respect from my peers. Oh, and he goes alright as an explosive RB, too.
- James S: Michael Vick (Philadelphia Eagles) – I have never played a fantasy league so if anyone is looking for my advice on who to grab, my advice is do what Jared does
- Jared: Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings) – Is in a run first offence and he is the best tailback in the league. Enough said.
- Olly: Chris Johnson (Tennessee Titans) – They will have no choice but to run the ball with their QB situation.
With the first pick in the 2012 NFL Draft… (the team with worst 2011 season record)

If our predictions are true this could be Marvins last year in Cincinnati
- Andy: Cincinnati Bengals – So many rookies on offense, Benson just outta da slamma, Carson gone awol, lost Jonathan Joseph and just don’t like the way their organisation is run.
- Brodie: Cincinnati Bengals
- Dom: San Francisco 49ers – Thought I would throw in another outside chance. Will be as bad, if not worse than the Bengals.
- James H-S: Miami Dolphins. Tough division (with the Patriots and Jets), alongside road games against the Chargers, Giants, Cowboys and Chiefs. Andrew Luck should go out and purchase a Miami Heat jersey ASAP.
- James S: Cincinnati Bengals
- Jared: Cincinnati Bengals - Tough, Tough, Tough division.
- Olly: Cincinnati Bengals
