Colin Scotts was the second Australian to play NFL, the first to receive an American Football scholarship and the first Australian be drafted into the NFL.
Originally a gifted Rugby player, Scotts was spotted during a rugby game and invited to the University of Hawaii where he was offered a full scholarship and developed into a Defensive End.
In the third round of the 1987 NFL Draft, Scotts was drafted by the St Louis Cardinals where he would go on to play as both Defensive End and Tight End before being traded to the Houston Oilers. His career ended in a freak injury.
Scotts was an animated character and released his own must read book for any Australian NFL fan called All Balls: They Said an Aussie Couldn’t Make It detailing the story of his transition into the NFL.
